“Diana is that happy combination of knowledgeable and professional, yet easy-going” Yvette Voelker (Pfister Sisters)
Diana Thornton is an award-winning print designer and photographer experienced in a wide range of publication art direction, design, and production services. For 30+ years she has designed hundreds of CDs, DVDs, books, publications and event materials in the music, film, event, nonprofit and other industries.
She specializes in designing high-end collector’s books about the Beatles (12 books and counting) for nationally acclaimed author and Beatles historian Bruce Spizer (www.beatle.net). She also recently completed a 500-page Beach Boys Albums Price Guide with over 2,000 images. Recently she has expanded to designing digital publications and event guides.
She has practiced photography since she was 10 (back in the film days) and went on to minor in photography in college and graduate school. She has become an expert in photo editing and image restoration in Photoshop and Lightroom.
After recording an album of her own songs, Diana and Parker Dinkins started Crescent Music Services in 1997 to provide design and CD manufacturing services to other New Orleans musicians. Her great uncle Bill Russell was a renowned Dixieland Jazz historian and musician in New Orleans, so she already had a unique connection to the city. Her clients include Ellis Marsalis, Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra, Charmaine Neville, Basin Street Records (Kermit Ruffins, Jon Cleary, Theresa Andersson, Rebirth Brass Band, Davell Crawford), and the National Park Service. In 2005 she was one of New Orleans Magazine’s “30 People to Watch.”
She is an experienced genealogist, archivist and historian, with a Master’s Degree in Archaeology from Texas A&M. A family historian for over 40 years, she has digitized and restored thousands of photographs and documents, is researching generations of ancestors, specializing in collections and writing biographies.
And she loves to share what she knows, regularly teaching photography and computer software classes.
